WHAT PLACE WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT?
New Zealand. Hills. Mountains. Scenery. And hobbit holes. It's a Tolkien lover's dream. And I love me some Tolkien.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SEASON?
Autumn. Finally a break from the Texas heat! Oh, and there's the changing of the leaves and all things pumpkin.
WHAT IS ON YOUR IPOD RIGHT NOW?
Audrey Assad - Evergreen
Corey Voss - Songs of Heaven and Earth
For All Seasons - Clarity
WHAT'S ONE OF YOUR PROUDEST MOMENTS?
When the church released their first EP with songs that I wrote for it. I never once saw myself as a songwriter, let alone one that's good enough to have songs cut on an album. But that changed dramatically when the church not only sang my songs, but sang them with enthusiasm. That is a wonderful feeling.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Grit. And stories about it. Bill Hybels, lead pastor at Willow Creek Community Church defines grit as being passion with perseverance over time. I often wonder whether or not I have the kind of grit to see my dreams or goals become reality. No doubt I have passion, but it is the perseverance over time part that gives me pause. People who demonstrate a willingness to patiently wait while continuing to "try, try again" inspire me.
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT HULEN STREET?
I get the wonderful privilege to lead the church body in corporate worship at Hulen Street Church. My role as a pastor is to stir the hearts of believers to offer their own personal worship to God through various experiences involving the arts and media. It is my desire that Sunday morning worship and other events like it serve to act as a culmination of the personal worship that has been happening all week, not just a one-time thing. I want the church to see corporate worship as a highly participatory act, not one that they are content to sit back and watch.
Aaron has served with Hulen Street Church since 2012.
