Finding a church that fits can sometimes be intimidating, especially if you're new to the neighborhood or if you haven’t had much experience with church in the past. In fact, you’re probably browsing this site right now because you’re hoping to get an idea of what Hulen Street Church is like before you show up on Sunday morning. If that’s the case, here are a few questions you may be asking:
1. What kind of people will I find at Hulen Street?
Hulen Street sits right in the middle of one of the fastest growing areas in Fort Worth. We are surrounded by neighborhoods of young families and because of that, the average age of someone at Hulen Street is 40 years old. But one thing you’ll notice when you visit is that we don’t all look the same. There is a healthy collection of people of different races, ages, and life stages at Hulen Street. By God's grace, we have unity without uniformity.
2. How does everyone dress?
Everyone is encouraged to attend worship in whatever attire they feel most comfortable. For a few that will mean slacks and a tie, for most it means jeans and a polo, and for some it means shorts and a t-shirt. You will typically find our Lead Pastor, Wes Hamilton, preaching in jeans and a button-down. For the most part, you'll feel right at home no matter what you wear.
3. What is the music like?
Traditionally, there has been a line drawn between contemporary and traditional worship, and you belong to either one camp or another. While the majority of our worship would be classified as contemporary (Passion, Hillsong, All Sons and Daughters, Austin Stone, Vertical Church, Elevation Church, etc.), we still love the theological depth and poetic beauty contained in the classic hymns most of us grew up with. So we will often pull one of those classics out and sing it with a modern twist.
4. What is the Preaching like?
Our preaching is always biblical, informative and applicable. If you listen to a sermon from Pastor Wes before you visit, you can get a good sense of our sermons.
5. Are you affiliated with a denomination?
Although we don’t consider ourselves to be a typical Baptist church, we do cooperate with the churches of the Southern Baptist Convention and are dually aligned with both the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention.
6. What Sunday morning activities do you have for my kids?
Hulen Street has a dynamic ministry to kids of all ages.
For birth to 4 years, we have Kids Street Downtown.
For K-4th grade we have Kids Street Uptown.
For 5th-6th grade, we have Junction 56.
For 7-th-12th grade, we have Hulen Street Students.
