FIRST JOB
My first job was picking up weeds for one cent a piece in my Grandma’s backyard. Let’s just say to this day, I have a disdain for the sight of weeds but learned how to care for the little things from her.

INSPIRATION
As a teenager, I had a lot of questions with regards to how Christianity could be true. I grew up in a Chinese American church in Los Angeles that had caring adults who were patient with my question-asking and never judged me for my questions. They stuck with me through my doubting teenage years and are with me to this day as an adult.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE
Every person wrestles with sticking to the things and language that they are comfortable with. But as culture and society evolve, as Christian thinkers we have to continually reevaluate and reassess how to effecitvely engage. That requires us to be humble and take a posture of listening and learning which does not come naturally.

ROLE AT HULEN STREET
My job is to equip our entire church, in every life phase to walk every teenager through the teenage years and cultivate a real faith that lasts in adulthood. I also help Hulen St. partners find their place at Hulen St. to serve. I have a lot of fun with my job at Hulen St.

Matt has served with Hulen Street Church since 2014.
