STATION I // JESUS IS TEMPTED

Matthew 26:38-39
Then [Jesus] said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
Reflection
Jesus knew that the Father's will to save sinners would be a hard & painful burden to bear. Yet, at this moment in the Garden of Gethsemane, the One and Only Son of God was perfectly vulnerable & submissive to the Father. For the joy that was on the other side, Jesus journeyed to the cross.

  • Take a moment to ask God to reveal any reluctancy or unwillingness in your heart to trust Him.
  • Give thanks to Jesus that He was perfectly obedient and trusting to the Father, even to the point of facing death on your behalf.
